Recruiter / Program Director at Chicago Youth Centers
Greater Chicago Area
I have recently accepted a position with the Chicago Youth Centers as a Recruiter / Program Director. Here, I will be in charge of program development for their summer camp in Dowagiac, MI, Camp Rosenthal. I am also charged with increasing attendance at this camp from within the organization as well as developing relationships with neighborhood organizations to encourage their youth to attend our camp operation. I will be responsible for hiring, training, and managing a staff of 50+ to ensure a quality program for our campers.
My prior position was that of District Executive with the Chicago Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Here, it is my job to build and maintain relationships with schools, churches and organizations throughout the central and northern parts of the city. While here, I have worked to help in the running of large fundraising events and helped to organize a number of events, such as campouts and recognition dinners. The main focus of my position is to increase the number of Scouting units and active Scouters in within my district; this is done mainly through relationship building with local volunteers. I was also chosen to run the Cub Scout summer camp at Hoover Outdoor Education Center where I have hired, trained, and managed a staff of 18 to ensure a fun, educational, and unique experience for the Cub Scouts and their families. More recently, I have assigned to be the Reservation Program Director of the Owasippe Scout Reservation in Twin Lake, Michigan. Here I have been in a managerial position over 4 sub-camp directors and over 100 staff members. I took charge in organizing our weeklong staff training as well as implementing a number of the courses.

Chicago Youth Centers invests in youth in underserved Chicago neighborhoods to help them discover and realize their full potential.
Chicago Youth Centers provides a continuum of caring for at-risk, low-income youth. CYC welcomes ages 3-18 into neighborhood-based centers and a residential country camp-oases of encouragement and support for children from neighborhoods where violence, despair and failure are the norm. At CYC facilities, children find programs that encourage their dreams, support academic success, reinforce their strengths, and help them envision a positive future.

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Here, I was responsible for the growth of the Boy Scouts, within my geographic region. This includes all facets of the program: volunteer identification and recruitment, increasing membership enrollment and community organization partnerships, and fundraising through internal and external prospects.
In addition to my regular duties, I was also charged with taking on the position of Program Director for the Hoover Outdoor Education Center in 2007, and the Owasippie Scout Reservation in 2008. The additional responsibilities of these roles included hiring and training a seasonal staff (Hoover: 18, Owasippie: 100+), as well as ensuring the development and implementation of a unique and high-quality outdoor program.
