It was great experience, full of challenges to run Ultima Online shards. I've started with Shadows of the Ancients (SoA) running on POL and I've got quite recognized in the community for my contributions. I've 'broken' the limit of 48skills hardcoded in POL0.94 using POL's system hooks. My other well known contribution was the AdminScript - a missing piece of software that I've developed during my struggles while administering SoA's players. After SoA I've helped whit number of other free shards such as World of Darkness, Clair's Lair Second and Third Edition, and with few friends we've created Veritatis Splendor (UOVS) which later on in 2004 became Born in Mortality. UOVS had been completely written in C# using the RunUO server/framework. During this time, even while still young, I've learned a lot about customer and technical support, administering and tweaking Linux(Slackware), NetBSD and Windows 2003Server to handle heavy load caused by dozens and sometimes hundereds of players.

Our Local Area Network consisted of 20 apartments connected with coaxical cable with main Red Hat 6.0 server which I've administered. We only had 112Kbps to share amongst these apartments so this alone had been a challenge :)
During that time I've helped few other colleagues with their own LANs and servers, mostly RH and SUSE based.
