Intellectual Property Legal Director at Areva T&D
Reading, United Kingdom
Over the last 12 years, I have contributed to the strategies of various international companies and organisations in the field of Innovation and Intellectual property, strategic and business IPR licensing, Open source, standardisation and lobbying.
I have built this experience through my work in a public R&D centre, a major telecom operator (Orange/France Telecom), a worldwide leader in semiconductors (Intel), in an international industry consortium (LiMo Foundation) and now Areva T&D. I have experience of leading and managing teams on an international basis.
My main achievements include:
- The creation of several successful licensing programs related to wireless technologies (e.g. turbo codes), and major contributions to all various IPR strategies of France Telecom/Orange and some important initiatives of Intel;
- The creation of several industry initiatives (home gateway initiative, LiPS forum...), member of the Board of OMA (Open Mobile Alliance), and recent contributions to the review of its IPR policy by ETSI;
- Lobbying through my involvement in many European discussions about IPR as elected chairman of the IPR group of EICTA, the European ICT industry Trade association;
- Open source through actively assisting (from 1999) an R&D public organisation and then France Telecom/Orange to define the company’s strategy in this field, and finally for LiMo Foundation where I have been implementing the strategy and the compliance program.
Additionally, I teach IP and licensing in two French universities, and speak in many conferences.
