Chair in Finance
6th Global Student Forum on Engineering Education, Hungary
Nonprofit; 11-50 employees; Higher Education industry
October 2009 – October 2009 (1 month)
The Student Platform for Engineering Education Development (SPEED) in cooperation with American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) gathered student leaders in Budapest, Hungary on October 9th-15th, 2009 for the Global Student Forum on Engineering Education to discuss this year’s conference theme “Ensuring Equitable and Diverse Global Representation with Engineering Education”. I represented Nepalese Engineering community in the Global Student Forum on Engineering Education (GSF) not only as a participant but as a conference chair (Chair in Finance). I had been an integral part in the organisation of the Global Student Forum on Engineering Education 2009. The Global Student Forum program focuses on developing thinking from a global perspective and providing a local applicability to student's ideas. Students share ideas and discuss the skills and competencies of a modern successful engineer and how to implement such current practices into curriculum in order to improve engineering education. Students participate in a series of workshops, discussions, presentations and creation of action plans that enable them to become a factor of change in the development of engineering education curriculum.
-As the finance chair of this forum, I provided tremendous fiscal guidance. I over saw all financial considerations for the forum, including but not limited to; managing budgets, making payments, developing sponsorship package and procedures and pursuing and locating sponsorship, an event with approximately $30,000 budget.

Worldwide Nepalese Students' Organisation - Nepal (WNSO) is the non-profit network of Nepalese students and professionals worldwide working for the development of Nepal and Nepalese through various programs linking the issues of education with sustainability. It was established by a group of pioneering Nepalese students whose primary objective was the provision of accurate and comprehensive information for those eager to study abroad. The idea for WNSO stemmed from the recognition of major problem facing prospective overseas students from Nepal. Today, WNSO has emerged as an extensive umbrella network for students across the world irrespective of their beliefs, religion, sex or ethnic origin. WNSO does not have any affiliation with corporate, political or Government organization.

Global Student Forum on Engineering Education (GSFEE) was presented by The Student Platform for Engineering Education Development (SPEED), in conjunction with the University of Cape Town and American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).This gathering of enthusiastic students leaders from around the globe focused on intense discussion of pressing issues , formation of action plans for post-conference follow-up and participation in prominent international meeting attended by leaders in industry, academia and Government.
GSFEE and GCEE was an opportunity for me to raise the issue of engineering education from my locality for open discussion to a global audience. And through my participation I got a concrete understanding of pressing issues and prevailing problems of engineering sector. Also , I took the opportunity to get to know each other, share something about me, my county and my ideas about the topic, and took benefit from the great diversity and richness of people, cultures and background represented in the event. This way, I not only came back home with a smile on my face but also I felt like I added something valuable and long lasting to somebody else's experience. The 3rd Global Student Forum on engineering education took place at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, from Oct 17 to 25, 2008.
