Xavier Mertens’s Summary

Since my Graduation in 1995, I always worked in ICT technology. In 1996, I started my career in the emerging sector of Internet Service Providers (Infoboard, Euronet, Wanadoo and Tiscali). Dynamic environments like ISP’s helped me to improve my networking skills and I was rapidly promoted to the position of Network Operation Center Manager.

After eight years working for ISP’s, I decided to join Belga, the first Belgian press agency as Senior System Engineer. During those years, I was deeply involved in miscellaneous projects related to ICT security and ICT security management.

In 2006, I decided to redirect his career to further develop my core expertise in ICT security. I accepted an offer from C-CURE as Security Consultant. Very soon I passes several certifications successfully (CISSP, CISA) and to drastically increases my knowledge.

Since I works for C-CURE, I was involved in lot of customers projects regarding BCP, DRP, monitoring and reporting using a broad set of tools (Groundwork, SIEM, ...).; I deployed several complete monitoring solutions covering large installed bases of security devices and I also was in charge of further development of the C-CURE MSS SoC.

ICT security is a very large domain and my domains of excellence are: monitoring and reporting (data collection, correlation, incidents analysis) and audit. In the near future, I will gain more knowledge in audits, assessments and pen-testing and DLP.
