This community organization was formed to organize the community of Mission Hills when it appeared that there was little communication within the neighborhood on land use decisions. As the first chair and as a member of the board I set the agenda for establishing our name, Mission Statement, put forward the organizational structure of this volunteer group while also involved in a challenging land use matter. By 2007, the group had accomplished a great deal including revising a high rise project into something that the community could embrace. We organized the community and brought the previously unheard perspective to the decision makers and developers. The accomplishment was managed through educational fund raisers, (historic home tours & walking tours), organizing candidate forums, and creating a website and other outreach to communicate with our members. By 2007, the land use matter had been resolved and the organization was well established. My service evolved to an elected position on Uptown Planners which is one of the recognized advisory community planning groups in San Diego.
