Born in Brookline, Massachusetts, Bill is the eldest son of the late Bill Wilkins Jr, the award winning newscast director at KGO-TV (ABC) in San Francisco from 1968 to 1984. Bill is also a first nephew of Herbert P. Wilkins, Sr., co-founder of Syncom Venture Funds, located in the Washington DC area.

In the late 80's Bill worked at KROQ in Los Angeles under the infamous programming genius Rick Carroll, then at KSRF-FM and KIEV-AM in sales, followed by New World Pictures in the foreign marketing division. After starting and selling a small radio syndication firm, Bill moved to San Francisco and entered the booming Internet industry. After working at such companies as Metrocom, Internet.com, AdKnowledge, and the iTraffic Interactive Agency (Agency.com), Bill founded Wilkins Media Holdings LLC, a private holding company focused on entrepreneurial projects in entertainment production and internet distribution systems.
