Marketing Segment Manager at Schneider Electric
Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area
I have a wide variety of experience in both technical and business roles throughout my 10 year career in the high-tech industry. My career started as a technical contributor, where I was awarded 25+ patents as a Member of the Technical Staff for one of the leading computer microprocessor companies in the world. I gradually shifted my career in the direction of business management by first becoming an applications engineer in the semiconductor industry and then moving more into software product management and finally market management roles.
My goal is to apply the array of skills and experiences I've developed in a functional marketing role where I can be an integral contributor to the enterprise's business strategy and management function.

July 2003 — Present (6 years 8 months)
As segment marketing manager, I managed Schneider Electric's product and service offerings in the North American production machinery OEM segment focused mainly on our business in Semiconductor Manufacturing, Packaging Machinery, and Food, & Beverage Machinery. I had marketing responsibility for growing sales in this 20+ million-dollar segment. I developed and implemented several marketing campaigns designed to grow brand awareness, educate our direct sales force and channel partners on segment-specific value propositions for our wide array of standard & specialty products for these industries, and to cater to the unique needs of several large customers in this segment. As a result of these campaigns, our segment sales grew at a rate in excess of three times faster than the overall capital spending in these industries during the 2004-2006 period. Several of the campaigns that I pioneered within my segment were adopted as Best Practices for use in other market segments by my colleagues.

March 2001 — June 2003 (2 years 4 months)
As the product marketing manager, I was responsible for a $2.5 million, 2 year product development project to develop a new factory-level software control system product for the semiconductor manufacturing industry. This job included the development and documentation of the market requirements for the product as well as management of the entire product life cycle through requirements, specification, development, testing, release, and continuous support phases.
As this company was a small technology startup, each member was required to play multiple roles. For me this meant serving in a pre-sales application support role as well as a marketing communication role. In addition to my PMM responsibilities, I also provided the sales team with technical sales support, customer demos and beta project management. On the marketing communication side, I handled development of sales and lead generation tools such as sales brochures, sales presentations, web content, and tradeshow exhibitions.
(Public Company; 1001-5000 employees; KLAC; Semiconductors industry)
February 2000 — February 2001 (1 year 1 month)
As an application engineer at KLA-Tencor, I was responsible for pre- and post-sales technical support of our supervisory control systems products. I assisted the sales team by making customer presentations, responding to requests for information, and conducting customer training on our products. In addition to sales support, I was responsible for documenting the market requirements for control engineering features and the roadmap for our control systems software products.
(Public Company; 5001-10,000 employees; AMD; Semiconductors industry)
June 1997 — February 2000 (2 years 9 months)
As a Member of the Technical Staff at Advanced Micro Devices, I was the senior member of the Advanced Process Control engineering staff at AMD's Fab 25 Austin facility. I was the technical lead and project manager on various novel automation and control systems implemented in AMD's semiconductor wafer manufacturing facility which were estimated to save the company over $5 million dollars in avoided product scrap and unproductive tool downtime annually.
In this job I mentored junior engineers and co-ops who were a part of our control engineering team and was responsible for the documentation and technology transfer of our advanced control systems to our sister facility in Dresden, Germany.

My primary passion is soccer -- playing, coaching, refereeing, watching. I even run a website dedicated to soccer in the Raleigh-Durham area in my spare time. I also enjoy tinkering with gadgets and computer and teaching myself new things like website development, scripting languages, and new applications. I also enjoy collecting music and films.
