Started off with Aerospace Engineering - structural analyses of jet engines - heavy duty computational analyses. I then went back for a PhD in Molecular Biology and surprisingly enough wound up in Bioinformatics doing - heavy duty computational analyses :)
My bioPharma experiences started with large-scale genomics analyses and database development. I have focused continually on generating and delivering information from whatever data sources are available. A major choke point for my genomics analyses was literature review and analysis which lead me to text mining and building a literature informatics organization from a Library.

Worked in the Research section of the Bioinformatics department. Developed algorithms and provided expertise in sequence analysis specializing in promoter analysis. Also developed information management solutions including one of the first gene catalogs with Jim Fickett and Wyeth Wasserman. Piloted grid computing technologies on the SmithKline Beecham side of GSK.
