William Pratt’s Summary
I have extensive unix systems administration and systems development experience. I am currently working in Ruby and Ruby on Rails and have a long past in Perl on Linux. I am fluent in web development technologies including html, css, javascript, etc. I have worked in and around databases since 1996 both in the dba role and through software development. I have experience with Mysql, MsSql Server, Informix, Oracle, and PostgresSql.
During my tenure at Megapath, I have written many tools that manage network devices, and worked with a team in designing and implementing (first in Maypole, now in Rails) an application that proxies all network management that tech support does to the network devices. This allows for fine grained, role based control over the devices. This system is also responsible for all auto-provisioning of all customer product orders on the network devices.
My current goals include expanding my development team management skills. I am also constantly reading book on generic programming, software patterns, test driven development, and new languages. My core focus is on building a cohesive development team who delivers a robust, feature rich and stable product on a dependable release cycle.
