When I joined MDC, it was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Day & Zimmermann (of Philadelphia). Two partners and I purchased the business from D&Z in February of 1997. I separated from the firm in December 2000 and re-started my own firm, Wheatley & Associates, Inc., whose name changed to Wheatley US Limited the next year when I started Wheatley UK Limied. MDC and The Wheatley Companies are in the same line of business - management consulting for the design and construction industries.
