I have a long background in programming (started in '82) and computer graphics. Because in the early 90's it was impossible to study computer graphics at any of the Finnish universities, we founded our own company, Hybrid. The company acted as one of the key hubs for CG research in Helsinki, and over the years we created several well-known products, dozens of conference and journal papers, worked on hundreds of projects with customers in the games and mobile industries, produced several PhDs and many MScs, spun off a couple of new companies (Umbra, Fake Graphics, AILab), and, most importantly, had loads of fun doing it. In the spring of 2006 we sold the company to NVIDIA, and I spent 18 months mostly helping convert Hybrid into NVIDIA's Helsinki office.
On Valentine's Day 2008 we launched our new company, Lots. Lots is a tender loving sweat equity investment company on speed. Our business is to lavish love and order on hand-picked Nordic media/graphics tech companies who have innovative products or services. Since its opening, Lots has exited two of its customer companies (one to Silicon Valley, one to Canada), participated in several financing rounds, joint ventures, and launched a start-up of its own.
Brainstorming, consulting, business development, technical sales & marketing, project management, standardization (mobile 3d graphics standards, e.g., Khronos APIs OpenGL ES, OpenVG, OpenCL, OpenKODE, and JCP standards: JSR 184 (M3G), JSR 239, JSR 297), computer graphics (rendering, mobile graphics, visibility optimization, occlusion culling, software rasterization, GPU design), programming (C, C++, assemblers, program optimization, software design, compilers), HDR photography.
