Software Architect, Client Services at Nitobi

I am a software developer with a strong leaning towards free/open source technology though I am no zealot. I believe in goal directed solutions that take all the business forces into account. I strongly believe that all successful software stems from the end user experience.
Check out my Nitobi blog to get a better sense of my professional experience.
I work on OS X. I write Ruby. Mostly with Rails but I'm keeping a close eye on Merb. I tend to prefer MySQL and deploy to Linux utilizing Mongrel and Apache or nGinx in combination with Memcached and sometimes Sphinx.
I write all the standard CSS and unobtrusive JavaScript. In fact, I founded the Vancouver Ajax and Beer meetup.
In the past I've coded everything from simple Java servlets to extremely large and complex .NET applications. I prefer simplicity these days.
