Founder & CEO at RescueTime
Greater Seattle Area
Currently am founder and CEO of RescueTime, a time management web startup that has recently received funding by YCombinator.
Previously, I was employed as Director of Product Development at Jobster in Seattle, WA. Jobster purchased a web property I launched just 3 months after it entered public beta (http://www.gojobby.com).
Before launched GoJobby, I owned my own web development firm in Anchorage, Alaska. Founded in 1996, PangoMedia grew from two guys working out of my house to a thriving consultancy with 15 employees and half a dozen contractors. I've worked with organizations such as Jobster, Monsanto, Jockey Underwear, TrueValue Hardware, the State of Alaska, University of Alaska, General Communications, Inc, Unocal, and more.
Web Application product strategy, UI Design, social media marketing, SEO, SEM, xhtml/css, JavaScript, Visual Design, light web programming, etc.

June 2007 — Present (1 year 2 months)
Okay, I suppose I should update my LinkedIn profile to reflect that RescueTime has graduated from a hobby into an actual seed-funded startup effort (driven by the traffic and interest that we've seen from our users). My role is CEO, marketing, PR, UI design, light coding, copywriting, customer service... Ahhh, fun being in a small business again!

I like to focus on is hands-on work in the following areas:
- product strategy (I've built two web companies that have had successful exit events)
- UI/UX design and light front-end coding (Arrington called Jobby's user experience "quite stunning")
- search engine strategies (in my 10 month tenure at Jobster as resident SEO guy, organic traffic has increased by about 65%)
- social media marketing (I've gotten ventures onto Techcrunch, Digg, Del.icio.us, Reddt, Netscape, etc)
- process hacking and biz stuff (I've been an web entrepreneur/biz owner for 11 years, for whatever that's worth!)

August 2005 — April 2006 (9 months)
I founded Jobby, an online web 2.0 resume posting and searching tool. I conceived of the idea and worked with a co-founder to build it. I crafted the UI (which TechCrunch called "stunning"), built the prototype, did all of the marketing and SEO work, and eventually negotated a sale of the company to Jobster.
