Professional Skills Classes at TMCC Workforce Development and Continuing Education
Reno, Nevada Area
Having "professional skills" might seem like a no-brainer to some people. You show up to work, you get your job done, and that's all there is to it.
But for some of us, we strive for more than just simply "showing up." We want to excel in our careers and we want to be invaluable employees. We want to earn a higher salary. We want to be competitive candidates for potential job openings and perhaps start our own business or company.
We are the type of people that take classes to sharpen our skills. Classes such as: "Marketing Using Social Media," "Irresistible Website Promotion," and "Human Resources 101." All of these and more are offered by TMCC's Workforce Development and Continuing Education Department beginning throughout the year.
WDCE is our area's most comprehensive provider of non-credit personal enrichment and professional success courses.

Learn basics to help you achieve your personal best with WDCE's Professional Skills classes.
For example, in today's technology driven world, many of us forget how important it is to maintain professional face-to-face business relationships. Here are three tips to perfect your business etiquette from WDCE instructor Marti Benjamin:
1. Show respect for others by listening well and giving them your full attention. Do not look at your PDA while engaging in conversation. Be attentive and ask relevant questions.
2. Always return phone calls and emails promptly. Though your schedule may not allow it, try to return any calls or messages the same day they are received.
3. Look others in the eye when making a speech or speaking at a meeting. Maintaining eye contact is a sign of confidence and respect- both important in executing business etiquette.
-Marti Benjamin specializes in developing leadership and entrepreneurship in executives.
