Aut viam inveniam aut faciam (yes, Latin mottos are pretentious, but really I'm not - this just happens to say it best: "I will find a way or make one").
I'm a self-taught programmer with more than 10 years professional experience in the software industry. I've spent the most time working with VB6 and MS SQL Server but have also worked professionally with C++ and PHP and have a basic familiarity with pretty much every programming language around.
Despite the lack of a formal education in any aspect of Computer Science I take a keen interest in the academics of the subject, primarily through the publications of the ACM and am able to work at any level of the industry with experience in roles touching on many aspects of research, designing, developing, testing, maintaining, supporting and marketing computer software.
I prefer to work for small, energetic companies who might benefit from somebody who knows a bit about everything, a lot about most things technical and specialises in getting things done quickly without sacrificing quality.
Though not particularly a "people person" I have no problem dealing with even the most demanding and difficult customers. I'm not interested in predominantly customer-facing roles but I'm always happy to step away from the keyboard to help with a difficult account or to assist an important sale now and then.
I'm a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer and Sun Certified Java Programmer though ironically I prefer to avoid both these platforms.
