Over 20 years in information technology solutions' architecture. Head of The Information Technology Department, and reporting to the Deputy Managing Director. The IT Department at SRPC offers its services to SRPC and all subsidiaries of the parent group, Saudi Research & Marketing Group (SRMG).

The main sections of the IT Department are:

- Network Administration.
- Application Development.
- IT Projects Management.

My role is to develop & execute the IT strategies to assure the smooth growth of the IT services, in alignment with the business plans of SRMG, SRPC, and all their subsidiaries in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, London, Egypt, and Lebanon.

I was hired to setup the Visual Content department (later renamed to the Visual Services Department), which involved creating and executing a two-year business with the following main strategies:

- Develop a national department structure and assign sections, positions, and levels of responsibility to cover current and the near future company requirements.
- Developing the budget to cover the business plan's execution points.
- Organizing the staff and photographers' workflow in covering sports, editorial, and fashion photography.
- Modernizing the photography gear, computer & communication hardware, and software to increase the quality of deliverables and reduce the running cost.
- The Central Image Bank was developed to be accessed over the SRPC LAN & WAN and act as a central archive for images and video.

The department produces material for the 18 publications of SRPC in 20 countries.. The department employs +40 local professionals and a worldwide network of freelancers to aid in the different assignments.

This temporary assignment was to fulfill the requirement of a client in developing an online repository of scanned & photographed artifacts. The online solution was to include an online commerce module with several price lists that are appropriate for the different user profiles (student, researcher, ... etc).

I managed the project, after defining the:
- Solution development specifications.
- Software & hardware resilient infrastructure.
- Digitizing and production specifications.
- Time & material.

The project ended before going live, as it was sold to another client.

The main role was MIS management of the in-house infrastructure of computers, networks, and office automation software running under a blend of operating systems and communications protocols.

Other roles also involved producing technical documents, procedures, and technical proposals for undergoing projects. Localization of a document management system was also carried out for a product named “Optix®”, in addition to working on technical projects that the company is involved in, be it consulting, GIS, office automation, multi-media, internet, or turn-key solutions using state-of-the-art technologies.

I managed a team of three professionals and more resources were allocated on project-by-project basis.

System management and operations of the in-house HP-3000, DG-10000, and DG-8000. The systems ran the hospital’s operational and medical applications such as appointments, admission, pharmacy, laboratory, and medical records.

I was also involved in minor software development projects such as interfacing laboratory equipment to the main medical records system and the automation and organization of system operations and management under on unified menu driven system, which increased employees’ productivity and efficiency. I was awarded with an appreciation letter by the IT Director for that system.

Al-Muhandis was an architectural engineering firm owned by Engineer Nazar Kurdi. This firm spurred the company NATCOM (National Computer System Company), the dealers of DEC computers.

I was a trainee and attended several training courses on the management of VAX/VMS platform, DECnet, and ULTRA Datebase. I was also a member of DECUS (Digital Equipment Computer User Society) in Saudi Arabia..
