CTO of HP's Global VBU, Founder of Voodoo, Writer, & Serial Entrepreneur
Calgary, Canada Area
I am the Chief Technology Officer of the HP Voodoo Business Unit (VBU), a new business under the HP emerging businesses group. In this role, I oversee the technical strategy and product vision for the business unit’s products, including the Voodoo Omen and Envy product lines, the award-winning HP Blackbird 002 and other products with the Voodoo DNA ingredient brand.
As I sit on the R&D council I am also responsible for identifying intellectual property from HP and our partners for use in consumer gaming and high-performance devices.
I joined HP in November 2006 after HP acquired the company I founded in 1991, luxury and gaming computer manufacturer VoodooPC.
As founder and CTO of VoodooPC, I helped introduced fanless PC technology to the industry and we were the first to bring liquid cooling and active liquid chilling to the high-performance market segment. These innovations helped VoodooPC’s Omen desktop earn the coveted Ziff Davis Editors’ Choice award in the Ultimate Gaming Machine competition for five years running.
Since joining HP, I played a leadership role in the architecture of HP Blackbird 002, the VBU’s flagship product. Thanks to the team contributions Blackbird won over 10 Editors’ Choice Awards, including the highest-ever rating given to a desktop PC from CNET and a five out of five rating from PC Magazine.
I also write regular technology columns for CPU Magazine and Custom PC - and my blog at www.rahulsood.com contains an archive of most of my writings.
On a personal note, one of my personal aspirations is to use technology to improve healthcare through technology. I would also like to assist in the development of technology-based toys that help children with autism discover new ways to communicate.
Though Voodoo is my baby - and it's the brand I love and will continue to burn the flame, I have been involved in other successful start-ups besides Voodoo. I am a serial entrepreneur to the core.

Custom PC is the best enthusiast magazine in the world. Based out of the U.K, Custom PC features the most intense photography, and most in depth / killer reviews of PC hardware. This is the Robb Report of PC Magazines, and I fell in love instantly and started writing for them the minute they offered me the position.
