Jason Gonzalez’s Summary
I cut my teeth in brokerage. I spent a few years at Olde Discount Corp in the mid-late 90's. It was a great time to be a broker. I built a fixed income book, specifically in the muni arena and added stocks and managed products later. I was recruited by William R. Hough & Co (WRH) where I became a principal in municipal and general securities. WRH was later acquired by RBC Dain-Rauscher, but after I had relocated from Florida to the Northeast and gotten started with Merrill Lynch.
I worked in a few capacities for Merrill Lynch, but most importantly in early stage and developmental technology initiative management. Vetting deals and working with the I-bankers and venture cap - both internal and otherwise - made it clear to me where I needed to direct my efforts.
I left Merrill in 2001 and joined Freedom Systems, a prolific provider of products and services in the digital video surveillance space. I worked in several capacities at Freedom before taking the reins of a subsidiary. I travelled the US extensively, interviewing a majority of the leaders from the industry and acquiring my expertise.
Midyear 2003, I staked my claim and introduced VMS to the world. The company was initially bootstrapped and then funded privately through angels (real ones!!!) and engaged Brookshire Securities Corporation at the end of 2006. We completed our offering July 2007 and are taking the company out across the US now to become the #1 purveyor of Protective Technologies.
My goal is to elevate the company to the Nasdaq Small Cap market or the American Stock Exchange by 2010 and to grow the capitalization to $500 million.
