Manager, Business Analyst [Pre sales and Product Consulting] Team and Agile Processes Consultant
Chandīgarh Area, India
In all the jobs I have taken up [full time and part time] : research, new ideas and innovation has been the key. Right from my first job, I have been ambitious, self driven and motivated to consistently devour any opportunity to learn and improve. I have worked with organizations with only a few rupees in credit every single day and also with ones which were never short of funds. Through out my masters on diverse jobs to finance my studies. Being a masters student I have strong exposure and inclination to research methods. Last 03 years, I have been with Net Solutions and I have used the time period for enhancing my skills and implement various ideas.
I would like to work with organizations in business analysis or project management where I get a chance to learn something new every day. I am also a bit greedy and would want the most challenging work to come my way.
I am a passionate Agile believer and I work with Net Solutions on its Agile practice. I also conduct Agile trainings and coaching for teams across India [including being a course assistant for Certified Scrum Master course] and share experiences in implementing Agile at Net Solutions. I am an active presenter at various Agile conferences and also moderate the Scrum-India Yahoo Group.

I work with a great team. When we started, we were just two of us and the team was formed for the first time. Previously Business Analyst team handled all analysis - pre and post sales. Gradually, we added 02 more people. And then 01 more and then 01 more and finally 01 more. All this within first 08 months. We worked out some new ways of doing work, ensuring quality and faster delivery. Each day at work brings new knowledge and it is a great joy to work with the team. I try and keep the enthusiasm levels good, work on competence levels and trainings, provide weekly feedback and create a positive and buzzing work place. So far, its worked like a dream. However, we have a long way to go. And we are excited to be together in this journey.

I was involved in lot of interesting and diverse activities at Net Solutions. I wrote lot of proposals, discussed lots of exciting options with customers, consulted on best practices and framed lengthy/ lightweight requirement documents. I coordinated tentative schedules and people usage as well. In addition, I was involved in estimation using a variant of function points. I worked with development teams to help them understand the project scope and objectives. I was responsible for organization wide awareness of Agile processes. A fair amount of my job also involved managing projects as well. Some of the projects I worked on included social networking application for a major client in Bay Area, an auction website for Car Phone Warehouse and a small application for elders/ children to share things they are grateful for. Apart from this I helped in framing marketing strategies and areas of focus for the organization.

I worked at Institute of Engineering and Technology [IET], Bhaddal immediately after completing my Masters. IET-Bhaddal is one of the premier engineering institutions and is primarily valued for its strong focus on academics and discipline. I taught subjects like Advanced Thermodynamics to Masters students, Applied Thermodynamics and Engineering Drawing/ AutoCAD to Bachelors students. I also helped frame lab mannuals and syllabus for AutoCAD and Thermodynamics labs. I got an opportunity to work as an Editor of National Level Conference. One of the best assignments I was involved with was as a part of the Admissions Committee. I counseled young students and parents about career choices. I really enjoyed my stint at IET-Bhaddal. I would have loved to keep working there but for my desire to come back to IT field.

I was in charge of this internal project of the institute. This was a prototype for development of an intranet solution for knowledge management and automtion of Department of Mechanical Engineering. I worked with trainees to develop an automation module for Department of Training and Placement. The modules were implemented using VB6.0, SQL Server, MySQL and perl. It was a challenge to motivate trainees, work with them on quick learning curves, defining requirements with people not used to explain things for IT projects and importantly, documenting things properly. However, a wide exposure helped me hone my skills in web based programming in perl/ MySQL along with how to manage small and inexperienced teams. We actually did Agile without knowing we were doing so :-) and it was definitely the most exciting and motivated team I was a part of.
