Published in book-length fiction and nonfiction, Vikk Simmons is an experienced freelance writer and editor who has worked in a variety of genres, and is also an intuitive, skilled coach with clients at various stages of development in the arts.
As the co-author of three nonfiction travel books on Houston and Texas and two teen novels, Vikk Simmons is well-aquainted with the publishing industry. Her work has been published by traditional and by electronic publishers including The Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group (Taylor Trade), Republic of Texas Press, Earthling Press, and Awe-Struck E-Books, Inc. In addition, she spent five years in the retail bookselling industry working for a major bookstore chain in public relations, corporate sales, and community service.
Online publishing credits include work published by Expedia.com, HomeandAbroad.com, MSN City Guides, and the online magazine Blogcritics. Since 2003 she's maintained a blog (Down the Writer's Path) dedicated to the craft of writing and the business of publishing.
Teaching experience has included the development of a variety of writing classes for a local community college. In addition to writing workshops, speaking engagements have also included writers organizations and conferences.

Author of two teen novels and co-author of three travel guides, Vikk is a multi-published author in a variety of genres. She curerntly maintains the Down the Writer's Path and Reading to Dogs blogs. Her online work has appeared on sites such as Blogcritics, MSN City Guides, and Expedia.

In addition to having received a Masters in Creative Writing, I've attended more than 120 workshops and conferences. I've studied with novelists Ellen Lessor and Wesley Brown; editors Michael Seidman and Lisa Rechtor; and most recently writer and agent Donald Maass.
In the genre of writing for children, I've been mentored by Eric Kimmel and Phyllis Root. I received grants to attend the Highlights Foundation Chatauqua Writing for Children Conference and Rice University's Writing for Children Summer Publishing Program.
