Visual Artist and Part Time Professor
Greater Chicago Area
As a visual artist with an academic background in art and chemistry, I am interested in exploring various themes (most recently scientific and medical) through a working process that incorporates both precision and chaos. I have turned to art as a method of questioning and combining ideas. Most of my artwork is process-derived; it usually stems from the ways and places in which chance and order may meet or combine in traditional media. I have worked with a variety of materials, most recently surrealist techniques such as decalcomania, bulletism, and eclaboussure (drawing and painting techniques), combining digitally printed medical scans with drawing and painting, pinhole photography, and coiling double-walled ceramic vessels. Most of these methods incorporate a large amount of chance, accident or randomness.
I am interested in exhibiting my artwork worldwide, and teaching college art courses (photography, ceramics, drawing, foundation courses, and independent study) in the Chicago area.
