Valerie Short, CFM, IIDA’s Summary

Ms. Short serves as a Principal with the Advance Planning Group of Jacobs. She brings over 20 years of experience in Federal government real property management, facilities management, and leased construction with a concentration in build-to-suit construction to meet strict performance and security criteria in a nationwide market.

Prior to joining Jacobs, Valerie was the Chief of Facilities for the Drug Enforcement Administration, US Department of Justice, where she oversaw a nationwide portfolio of leased and owned facilities. Her staff provided a full spectrum of real estate services for acquisition, design, construction, and facilities management in support of Federal law enforcement activities.

She specializes in providing strategic and long range planning services to support client decision-making and problem definition. As a result, she effectively assists clients in integrating information about their business, operations, and facilities thus helping them maximize their resources, optimize capital costs, and establish a mechanism to manage change.

She also has a thorough understanding of the culture, regulations, policies, procedures, and occupancy criteria of federal agencies, along with GSA, and is a Certified Facility Manager (CFM), and an NCIDQ interior designer.

Clients include the Executive Office of the President, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Internal Revenue Service, General Services Administration, multiple federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies, and the US Census Bureau.
