Writing and communication in general is my passion and Technical Writing is my profession. The crux of technical writing, rather technical communication lies in understanding end users needs and presenting usable information.
As an usability enthusiast, am actively involved in screen design, embedded help, messages and suggestions to improve the usability of the applications.
My two cents on those who complain "Help files are not helpful": Help can be written in great ways, and it will be useful only if the software is designed with end users perspective. Help files are read by users who are looking for information to get things done and not for the pleasure of reading.

Impressed with my communication skills, I was offered to attend Mapping for the Web, Online & Paper (MWOP) workshop, free of cost, despite turning down their free-lance offer at Tactics Asia Kula Lumpur, Malaysia in 2003 September. I did attend the workshop and not only got certified but also got introduced to structured writing!
