Timothy Tait’s Summary
I am the community relations director for the Arizona Department of Transportation, overseeing media relations, public involvement, government relations and community outreach efforts for the metro-Phoenix region. Managing a $3.5 million annual budget, there are eight members of the Community Relations team whom I lead, in addition to four diversified consultant groups. In further service, I am a member of the Research Council for the Arizona Transportation Research Center.
Before joining ADOT, I served as a public affairs director for public school systems, worked as a reporter for local newspapers including The Arizona Republic and Dow Jones, and served as a probation officer for the Maricopa County Juvenile Court. I also served a short stint as a senior writer and producer for edgy Internet registrar GoDaddy.com.
In addition to my professional positions, I provide consulting/advising services to local nonprofit organizations in the community arts and educational sectors. Currently, I am a member of the board of directors for Deer Valley Charter Schools Inc., operators of Deer Valley Academy.
I am a graduate of Arizona State University’s Cronkite School of Journalism and earned a masters degree in leadership and crisis management from Grand Canyon University. I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree from Grand Canyon University in organizational leadership (Ed.D.), where I am a Kappa Delta Pi scholar.
