I am the owner of COLLAGE Designer Consignment and formally worked for SouthTrust Corporation as an Internal Management Consultant. While at the bank for 12 years, around year 6, I purchased COLLAGE (in 1995) which was three years old. I had just graduated with my MBA and wanted to test ALL of my business skills, not just my analytical side. So with no retail background, I created the type of store I would like to shop in — designer clothes and accessories at an affordable price in a boutique setting.
COLLAGE has been voted Best Consignment Shop and Best Women's Boutique in Birmingham Magazine and other publications and in 2003, I was awarded "Retailer of the Year" by the Alabama Retail Association.
In the fall of 2008, I launched Consignment Chic, a television show and website about the thrill of consignment shopping. The website is developing into a community of consignment shoppers complete with message boards, a store finder, event calendar, television segments, and an online consignment store. Whether you love looking for women’s designer consignment, children’s consignment, furniture consignment, men’s consignment or anything consignment, Consignment Chic is for you.
I served 4 years on the Board of the National Association of Resale and Thrift Shops and is the Immediate Past President of NARTS. COLLAGE has been recognized nationally by NARTS and continues to use industry best practices in her own business and professionally consults other shops across the country and Canada on how to succeed in their businesses. I am the keynote speaker at the annual NARTS conference in June 2009. I served as a charter director on the board for Dress for Success in Birmingham and currently is a member of NAWBO, the National Association of Women Business Owners and serves as a Preschool Sunday School teacher and Class Administrator for my Sunday School class at Hunter Street Baptist Church.
