Torsten is a media expert with experience in editorial and commercial roles - both print and online. He learned his trade at a regional newspaper in Germany and after a stint as a freelance in print and radio he joined FT.com during the first dotcom boom. He quickly developed an obsession with technology and future publishing models - managing online editorial teams and developing integrated publishing and syndication systems.
At the Guardian, Torsten set up a digital syndication business and got hooked on commercial development. He since generated multi-million pound revenues by launching the Guardian and Observer Archive, a new integrated syndication platform and strategy, as well as brand licensing programme and the Arabic News Service. He as also shaping and delivering Guardian's commercial strategy on e-readers and open APIs.
