Multimedia Production and Online Communications
Vancouver, Canada Area
I work miracles, often creating something from nothing, often paring down all things to a central thing, sometimes cleaning up after someone did their thing to something, which left behind practically nothing. Talk to me. I don't bite.
Solving problems is my specialty. My creative, artistic, business and technical background provides a versatile collection of skills. I compiled samples of my work to demonstrate my writing style to you, so you can judge its applicability to your project. I intend to expand this portfolio and redesign my website over the next few months. So keep checking back. To download the current version, 1.1, click the Technical Writing Portfolio link above.

I work with graphic designers, video producers, software developers, content management and other specialists to develop and implement full-scale solutions for both print and online media.
I can be involved in multiple phases within a project, be it content creation and development, writing and editing, graphics, music composition, audio recording and production, and web programming.
The end goal is the same: focus on strategically using custom-built, open-source, and commercial tools appropriate to the project, to produce an end result that meets your core needs and provides room for expansion.
Core skills: hand-code XHTML and CSS, JavaScript, ActionScript, PHP, MySQL. I am proficient with PhotoShop, Flash, InDesign and CorelDraw.
Learning new stuff is my driving motivation. Using what I learn is what makes me a benefit to you.
(Self-Employed; Entertainment industry)
September 1989 — Present (19 years 1 month)
I have been writing original lyrics and music for as long as I can remember. As I've been more interested in the live performance aspect, my recordings are scarce. I would eventually like to compose music for video games, film, tv and advertising. I also enjoy helping budding songwriters and non-writers capture their thoughts in a cohesive song format.
I have recorded various instruments in both my digital home studio as well as in professional analog and digital studios. I work with MIDI and digital audio, using different combinations of synthesizers, sequencing programs, and VST plugins.
I have done work on both Macintosh (Vision) and PC (Cakewalk, Cubase VST/SX, Band-In-A-Box, Jammer) and prefer the sound of live-playing over electronica.
I will be updating http://www.myspace.com/tonychung eventually to feature music, news, and special events.
(Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Renewables & Environment industry)
February 2007 — May 2007 (4 months)
I created detailed work instructions and illustrations for the company's pilot production line, and assisted with other documentation tasks.
I compiled information from manufacturing, engineering and prototyping personnel, and produced documentation combining 3D drawings, photographs, and freehand work in the illustrations.
I developed templates to provide for multiple levels of instruction, that received accolades from internal and external personnel, including representatives from Nissan’s automotive production facilities.

I started as a procurement clerk in 1993 and moved into several different roles, incorporating different levels of responsibility over 13 years within the same department. Since April, 2006 my function was to help streamline business processes by improving data integrity and reporting mechanisms. I used microsoft applications to import existing queries to prototype and user test a number of reports that were eventually modified and reincorporate to run directly through peoplesoft.

Diploma Fine Arts, Commercial Keyboard Performance, 1989 — 1992
I specialized in jazz piano, pop vocals, jazz choir, Afro-Latin percussion, and MIDI recording above the required theory, history, arranging, orchestration, and ensemble playing. My MIDI skills opened the door for me to create rehearsal tapes for a locally produced contemporary dance opera.
As Tony Quays I played keyboards in the band Mr & Mrs Smith for three years, winning local and national contests and earning radio airplay and TV synchronization royalties.
I am now an independent songwriter, performer, and worship leader.
