Tom Schreiber is an artist who lives and works in New York City. He is Co-Founder of the Open Proposition Committee along with the artist, Stephen Lipman. His work, bridging new and traditional media, has appeared in shows in NY and LA and brings together an eclectic mix of people, beginning with his 'tomversations' project and continuing with the 'importrait salon.' Schreiber's first salon was hosted in a SoHo apartment in October of 2002 before taking up residence at the Hotel Chelsea in NY and the Hollywood Standard in LA. It has become a regular gathering bringing together a diverse mix of people around the arts for a vibrant exchange of ideas. Guests of past salons have included author, cartoonist, Anthony Haden Guest; conceptual artist, writer and musician, Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid; and director of the NYCLU's New York Bill of Rights Defense Campaign, Udi Ofer; among others. His work has been seen in numerous exhibitions in the US and abroad.
