Tom Paper’s Summary
I am an analyst and an entrepreneur. I have turned around two businesses, implemented two ERP systems and architected systems at numerous businesses. I am motivated to help people make smart, data-driven decisions that lead them on their critical path to success.
Webster Pacific is the consulting firm I founded in 2004 and we have two practice areas: a) Strategy consulting, where we help our clients rigorously assess opportunities, such as buying a business or streamlining their supply chain. b) Virtual CFO consulting, where we provide a top-flight CFO or controller on a part-time basis. Webster Pacific has grown because we have assembled a smart, hard-working, experienced and fun group of financial and strategic advisors.
Data360 is a website built by the team at Webster Pacific. Its purpose is to help people clarify their current condition. Data360 was born of my frustration with traditional news and my experience in creating disciplined reporting systems for businesses.
I am currently on the board of:
• Lewis Bolt & Nut Company, a manufacturer of bolts and forgings for the North American railroads. In 1992, while I was President of the company, we relocated our factory from Minnesota to La Junta, Colorado.
• Mendocino Forest Products, a supplier of redwood and treated lumber products to The Home Depot. As CFO from 1998 to 2000, we successfully implemented a new computer system for in 6 months and under $1 million in total cost. Our sister company, MRC, owns 220,000 acres and is FSC-certified.
In a non-profit capacity, I am also on the board of:
• The Turnaround Management Association of San Francisco.
• The Finance Committee of the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco.
• The Audit Committee of Gateway High School in San Francisco.
My wife and I have two children, ages 4 and 6. We love the beach and the woods….and Disneyland and Legoland. I enjoy juggling, Rubick’s Cube and reading biographies.
