I'm an art market and culture industry professional with experience working across the academic, publishing and management sectors of the art world.
I have a wealth of experience in writing and advising on the art market and have written for a host of national (UK) and international arts publications. Following a post-doctoral research post at the University of Sussex and a short stint at The Art Newspaper, management posts included a directorship of Thesaurus Information (later Invaluable.com) one of the UK's leading art price information databases and later Chief Executive of contemporary limited edition online print publisher Eyestorm.com, turning the company around after an extended period of poor management and neglect.
I have a First Class Honours degree in Art History from the University of Sussex, a Masters from the Royal College of Art/V&A Joint Course in the History of Design and a doctorate in Art History from the University of Sussex. I am the author of a number of books on the history of art and the decorative arts, particularly sculpture history, and continue to write books and exhibition catalogues and related criticism. I am a member of AICA, the International Association of Art Critics and a visiting lecturer on the annual ARCA Masters course in Art Crime Studies in Amelia, Italy (Association for Research into Crimes Against Art).
I have spoken at a broad range of industry conferences on a variety of issues relating to museums, the art market, art crime, and technological applications in art and business. In 2008, I founded The Sculpture Agency (www.thesculptureagency.co.uk) to promote the work of contemporary sculptors.
I am always interested in exploring exciting business challenges, particularly those that pertain to innovation, and in new publishing ventures that endeavour to teach old dogs new tricks.
