My earliest experience with the internet, like many, came from when AOL and Prodigy started allowing access to it. So I began understanding the internet as a user. I always have learned a lot by first using and then analyzing software. As my career grew in the pre-press field I encountered more and more customers that needed to have printed layouts turned into web graphics. Or they just needed web graphics from their high res photo's we stored for them.
Once I started down that road it was not long until I started to learn HTML and a program called Go Live. Then my career changed and I was hired to be the Director of Multimedia for Nourison Industries. They never had anyone to run a website or develop anything interactive before I came on board.
For the next nine years I designed and maintained Nourison's internet properties.
I enjoy building websites because to a degree they are not only an advertising and marketing exercise but also a way of creating a interface on something that does not have a face to interact with. As web designer we create that interaction. We create experiences for web surfers that are important, if your marketing message is to stick.
