I worked on behalf of a number of clients, including Warburtons, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Yorkshire Housing and the Mental Health Foundation and gained valuable experience undertaking a number of tasks such as creating media lists, writing and pitching news releases; writing other copy and collating and analysing media coverage.

April 2008 — September 2008 (6 months)
Before starting my most recent degree, I worked in the Offender Management department of the West Yorkshire Probation Board’s head office, covering the responsibilities of two roles and the administration tasks for the whole department. Because of the volume of work, I was required to effectively manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines which vastly improved my organisation and time management skills. My main responsibilities included writing letters and other copy, arranging meetings, managing schedules, research and information gathering, taking minutes at meetings and answering enquiries.

November 2007 — December 2007 (2 months)
As part of a six month traveling venture, I worked on a voluntary basis for a local NGO that provides shelter, schooling and training for threatened children and young adults in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I was able to overcome significant cultural and linguistic barriers while teaching vocational skills to local children while working independently and as part of a team on activities outside the teaching and care environment such as producing promotional materials, maintaining an online presence and general management of the orphanage.
