I’m an experienced journalist, business blogger, author and publisher. I’m also a designer for print books and ebooks, and a content editor for books and publications. I currently write blogs and website content for a web development company, but I’m also actively seeking other freelance work or employment opportunities.
In mid-summer of 2014 I released my science fiction novel "Lunar Dust, Martian Sands" and the audio drama "Shalbatana Solstice,"a prequel to the novel. Anyone interested in science fiction can read and hear more about it on the Books page of MartianSands.com .
As a writer, I've written on business; technical issues including nuclear power and high tech companies and nuclear power; police and courts; higher education; creative arts (including working as a theater reviewer); politics, environment and general features. My recent writing writing includes features and personal profiles for a regional magazine, along with numerous business stories for a freelance Internet service providing content to the Houston Chronicle and other websites. I have also been a designer for print and the internet, and now for interactive eBooks. The last has spurred my involvement into producing audio works.
My foray into publishing eBooks has proven successful in a creative sense as TEC Publishing's first eBook, "Celebration at the Sarayi," won a medal in Independent Publisher's Living Now Book Awards, competing against standard print books. In the fall of 2011, it became available as an app in iTunes for the iPad.
Specialties: Writing, print design (Creative Suite), Web design and content, book writing and editing (Co-authored a work for Penguin Books in Dec. 2009), managing freelance writers for print and producing audio projects for download and multimedia presentations.
As a publisher, I have published local and regional publications. and have moved into books and ebooks. TEC's first ebook was published in 2008 as a multimedia historical cookbook on the 16th Century Ottoman Empire.
I am also available as a freelancer for magazine features and as a custom publisher/designer. Among publications published was a national trade magazine for a business association and a regional theater magazine, Great Lakes Stage. Current and recent assignments include: contributing numerous online business articles to several websites including the business site for the Houston Chronicle; consultant and general manager for National Voice Exchange, a Web-based business bartering voice-overs for radio stations feature contributor to several magazines; business blogs and website content for a website development company.
Blog, news and bookseller site for fiction and nonfiction dealing with "Life at the dawn of the 22nd Century."
Currently write content for the web development company, including content for industrial, commercial and restaurant sites. Content includes page descriptions, marketing articles and blogs.
Regional feature magazine covering the arts and general features.
Novel / TEC PublishingJuly 2014
Ed Ferald, pilot of the tug Cydonia Zach on the Martian-Lunar run, receives orders from his uncle and boss to secretly take an enigmatic woman as his sole passenger on the return to Mars, with no explanation why. The reason became apparent, however, midway to Mars, when an explosion destroys the passenger ship on which the woman originally booked passage. Ed races against time to rescue the survivors, but that’s only the beginning for the pilot. (More at Martiansands.com)
Audio Drama / TEC PublishingJuly 2014
The audio drama Shalbatana Solstice is a prequel to the novel Lunar Dust, Martian Sands. When a geologist is stranded at Marsport and desperately tries to find a way to get back to Shalbatana Valles, Ed, who at that time was flying a suborbital shuttle on Mars, is “persuaded” by his friend to alter his flight path so they can take the woman back to the remote science outpost.
Whatever Ed thought might happen that night, he wasn’t ready for the reality he faced, if reality is the right word. The thing is, neither were the regulars ready for the events that occurred that night during Null Time, those extra 40 minutes after midnight and before the start of the Martian day.
