Started in Unilever as a marketing trainee in 1995, worked in several marketing and trade marketing positions there in 2004 I've established a qualitative research company called Insiqua, which is an abbreviation for Insight Quest Alliance.
I believe that in order to build your brands successfully you need to build and maintain your understanding of your consumers' insights at high level. In order to do that you need to keep getting as close as possible to them, ideally in their natural environment. You won't get to insights through big quantitative studies, piles of reports and sophisticated presentations. Therefore I always challenge our clients to get out of the ivory towers to their consumers' lives. You woudn't believe how difficult sometimes this can get.
