Social Media and Search Marketing Manager, IBM Software Group
Austin, Texas Area
I began my career helping launch two software magazines, for which I wrote on a variety of technology topics. In 1994, I joined IBM’s new Software Group where I was responsible for digital marketing initiatives. In 1997, I helped develop the IBM e-business Web site, and later that year joined IBM's Corporate Marketing team to manage our global interactive advertising efforts. During this period, I led the launch of IBM's award-winning "e-business" campaign online, for which IBM and was named “Best Interactive Marketer of the Year” by Advertising Age.
As digital brand manager from 1999-2001, I oversaw IBM's global digital marketing efforts, leading executive and staff education for e-marketing trends and technologies as well as providing speechwriting/presentation support to senior IBM marketing executives. From 2001-2003, I led the management and integration of the Web site for IBM’s Tivoli software division into ibm.com.
Most recently, I have served as the E-Relationship Manager for the IBM Software Group’s (SWG) Web Presence initiative, an effort to consolidate and centralize the external SWG Web presence across IBM’s five software brands. In this capacity, I have been responsible for enabling and educating our marketing programs on how IBM Software can better leverage the Web for business advantage, and have also led a WW search marketing team. I also recently began authoring a blog for the IBM On Demand Business Web site, the first high-profile IBM blog focused on communicating IBM's on demand strategy and initiatives.
I have been an active participant in the interactive industry, speaking including @dtech, AdWeek’s Marketing Computers Conference, the Jupiter Online Advertising Forum, IDG's Global Briefing Series, and others. In 2003, I took my MBA in Technology Management through the University of Phoenix.
