Tonya Malone’s Experience

  • PDC Intern

    NAVFAC SW

    (Government Agency; Military industry)

    February 2008Present (1 year 10 months)

I created Business Management Systems (BMS) for Environmental Community Management in the areas of Recruitment & Hiring, New Employee Orientation, Training & Development, and Mentoring. These BMSs will show employees the basic steps needed in each area.

I created a database application to track recruitment and hiring. The application allows for the tracking of recruitments from request to hire. The program produces reports that show where recruitments are in the process by step in the process or area requesting recruitment. The program also tracks who has participated in interview panels and how many times they have participated. In addition, the program will produce reports that show how long each step in the hiring process is taking.

I assisted with the Professional Engineer Exam review for environmental engineers. I taught the section covering statistics and helped with basic chemistry and physics. I assisted with support to China Lake in creating Environmental Management System (EMS) program. I helped review current work on the program and make suggests on what still needed to be done and how to accomplish it so that the program meet requirements for certification. I also assisted with SPAWAR’s EMS external audit of the current EMS program. I assisted with Marine Force Reserves Environmental Compliance Evaluation audit in San Jose. I have also trained new employees to use PRISM. I assisted with the Naval Medical Center internal Environmental Quality Assessment (EQA) audit. I focused on determining if the Center complied with various natural and cultural resource regulations.

I was the subject matter expert (SME) for the FY09 Regional Facilities Program Business Plan. I generated a business plan from input from each program manager. I continued to meet with the Assistant Regional Engineer before finalization and forwarding to N5 and the Board of Directors for review and approval.

  • National President

    Sigma Lambda Delta

    (Non-Profit Organization Management industry)

    January 2003Present (6 years 11 months)

I initiated the creation of organizational foundations such as by-laws, rituals, traditions, and standards.

I created accounting methods for organization and managed accounts. The method chosen was a simple checkbook style with long descriptions of items. This method was chosen due to the limited amounts of funds expected at any time. Projections based on member growth were funds would not reach over $2000 at any given time.

I initiated relationship with the local sponsored philanthropy organization, Heartland Humane Society, and worked with their representative to create a volunteer program for chapter members. The program set up the initial training requirements all members had to complete before becoming a volunteer and the number of hours expected from each member.

I did a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis for the organization. With this information, I created positioning statement to target market segments and create advertising ideas.
