TJ Norris is a Pacific Northwest-based multimedia artist concentrating in hybrids of photography, sculpture and installation. Since the late 1980's Norris has shown internationally. He is a practicing freelance writer and independent contemporary art curator.
Leonardo Magazine (MIT Press) published Norris' essay "disembodied meditation" in 2005. Two CD/DVD works have been produced by Beta-lactam Ring Records (2003) and Innova Recordings/American Composer’s Forum (2007). Between 2002-03 Norris operated his gallery, Soundvision, "One of the Top Ten Best Places in Portland" (The Oregonian).
Norris has also been culturally active elsewhere, assisting in lectures and critiques with the Pacific Northwest College of Art, Portland State University and the Alberta Arts District. Since 2003 he has participated in Photo Lucida's "Critical Mass" project as a reviewer. In addition he has been an active board member of both the Newspace Center for Photography and the Beaverton Arts Commission. Since 2001 Norris has written cultural critique for ARTnews, Signal to Noise, Grooves, Brainwashed.com, Port, Repellent, Dusted, Just Out, Paris Transatlantic, Igloo Magazine, Leonardo, e|i Magazine, Vital Weekly and others.
