Marty Smyth’s Summary

When I was 6, my dad gave me a TRS-80 CoCo. I got bored with the games and taught myself to program BASIC. At this point, I was doomed.

Every language I know, I taught myself. Granted, I don't get much chance to use most of them. These days, most of my code is Perl or Ruby, with a fair amount of Javascript thrown in.

Purely by chance, I ended up doing some web design/development for money in college, and when it came time to get a real job, the specialty fit. At this point, I'm somewhat hyper-specialized in front-end interactive website design. Although, I do generally know quite a bit about every layer from the database up. I tend to be the guy people go to with their questions about layers outside their expertise.

I've been administrating linux servers for over a decade. I run a small server farm in my basement, both colocated and my own boxes. I host several domains, and quite a few websites, including an eVite replacement I wrote out of disgust with their ads and interstitials.

Oh, important note: I'm sufficiently happy with my current job. I'm not actively looking to change. If you've got something that you're just /sure/ I'd be interested in, please feel free to send details. Bear in mind you need to start off at six digits and good benefits, and be on the west side. Seriously. If you can't do that, don't waste your time.
