    The Story | In early 2008, Holcim launched a global initiative to improve the exchange of experiences, best practices, guidelines, etc. between the various companies that belong to Holcim. The initiative started with a platform that provides a single point of access to documented knowledge. Additional projects aimed at improving knowledge sharing for implicit knowledge; i.e. providing a platform that allows specialist to network and discuss.
    The Job | Joining the Knowledge Management department, Tim's major responsibilities were the implementation of the knowledge management tools in various Holcim companies and to continuously improve the usability and functionality of the global platform. The local implementation mainly focussed on promotion of the tools and on the integration/ consolidation with local knowledge management activities.

    The Job | This consulting business was a one-person company, therefore Tim was responsible for business development, marketing, project implementation, client relationship, etc. During a typical project, Tim supported the curator team for an architecture exhibition to communicate with around 130 exhibitors spread worldwide; the project management tool allowed to distribute news, exchange files, track milestones.

    The Story | This was Tim’s first venture, and he could achieved a good brand recognition and a great team spirit. Despite a good start, Tim decided to close the coffee shop after six months.
    The Job | As the founder of this business, Tim was involved in the company establishment, financing, shop design, human resource, operations, marketing, etc. Due to his heavy involvement Tim could gain great insight into doing local business and could only but benefit from this experience.

    The Story | One of the innovative concepts of ExecutiveInsight was "Customer Networking". This concept enabled the pharmaceutical industry to find new ways to communicate with the physicians by supporting its customers to create networks to exchange latest trends and issues. Tim left ExecutiveInsight to pursue his career in China.
    The Job | Tim developed new ways of the pharmaceutical industry to communicate with the physicians using alternative sales channels. For example he implemented an electronic newsletter (sponsored) which was operated by a Canadian company. This service was launched in all Western European countries and several thousands of physicians could be registered in a few months. Beside the projects with clients, Tim designed and implemented an internal knowledge base to collect and share all relevant information.

    The Job | Tim started with a few months training to achieve Lotus Certified Professional and very quickly was responsible to independently develop and enhance workflow applications. He successfully applied the rapid application development methodology. One project example was a customer complaints handling application; other examples are annual leave application, intranet portal development.
