My training was originally in UNIX development (C, C++, perl, java, shell), with a strong personal interest in System Administration (Solaris, Linux, BSD), Network Architecture, Security Consultancy, and System Architecture.

I've led projects in all these areas and have recently moved on from Technical Lead in charge of a team focusing on providing testing environments for other developers, business and technical testers to a position as Team Lead of a highly technical UNIX infrastructure, architecture, and development team.

I also have experience in Project Management, Windows, and strong ties to the Open Source movement.

My goals in all my work are to maximise flexibility by minimising reliance on closed standards and expenditure, instead focusing on the best solutions available which work with non-vendor-locked-in open standards. I strive to understand the latest developments and how they could be harnessed, and believe in rapid prototyping rather than design-by-committee.
