Thom has 27 years of work experience with the last 18 years at Price Waterhouse/IBM. Thom has led a number of large-scale, complex projects involving business process reengineering and the use of advanced technology. Thom has directly managed more than two million project hours of work. Thom has a track record for leading practices that spanned the United States.
Thom is well versed in industry issues and priorities in financial services, media & entertainment, energy & utilities, State government, and telecommunications. He has helped clients with solving complex problems related to optimizing organization structures and improving performance. Thom has significant experience with customer relationship management (CRM), financial management, and supply chain/operations management.
Thom has served on the senior leadership team of a $1B business unit and he has had direct P&L responsibility for a $200M annual business operation. He has led a number of successful business growth initiatives, and he has managed the difficult task of downsizing in the face of a challenging economic climate. Thom has demonstrated a strong ability to manage expenses, drive revenue and oversee administrative processes in large organizations.
In 2006 Thom was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives and he was re-elected in 2008. In 2008, Thom was elected by the Republican Caucus members to be the House Republican Whip, one of only two leadership positions in the caucus. Thom has demonstrated the value of his management skills in a highly complex, dynamic environment. I was elected to my second term in November 2008 and I was elected to one of two leadership positions in the House Republican Caucus. I also serve as Chaiman of the House Republican Campaign Committee for the 2010 election cycle.

Thom's career at PW spanned a wide array of technology and business focused practices. Thom's role on engagements has encompassed full lifecycle (analysis, design, construction, system test, and implementation). The projects have ranged from organizational effectiveness and business process reengineering to enterprise-wide systems implementations involving the full suite of human resources/payroll, supply chain, financials, work management base on industry-leading platform's (i.e., Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP).
Shortly after Thom's admission to the PW partnership, he was promoted to the Information Technology Infrastructure and Reseller (ITI/R) practice leader in the east business unit. Thom's responsibilities expanded from a single industry focus (2 partners & 50 staff) to a cross-industry focus (9 partners & 230 staff). Thom's practice was responsible for annual revenue of $100 million in consulting services and $70 million in technology resale. As a Practice Leader, Thom was responsible for the overall operation of the practice including business strategy formulation and execution, business development and administrative functions.
Before being promoted to the roll of ITI/R practice leader, Thom was a member of the financial services practice.
