I was born in Belgium, and grew up in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, where I went to a French school. In 2000, I returned to Europe to study at INSA Lyon, a leading engineering university in France. I specialized in Computer Networking and Telecommunications. I spent my fourth year studying at the Tec de Monterrey, campus Monterrey, Mexico, as an exchange student. Being interested by Research, I did a Master's degree during my last year of study. I graduated with a double degree in 2005.
I was offered a grant to pursue a PhD degree by Orange Labs, and so worked for three years on Energy Efficient Self-Organization in Wireless Sensor Networks. I worked at Orange Labs in Grenoble and the CITI Lab in Lyon, both in France.
During that period, I had the opportunity of being a visiting student researcher at CTTC in Barcelona (working on collaborative techniques with Christian Ibars), and then at BSAC at UC Berkeley, working with Prof. Kris Pister.
I decided to look at networking from a more implementation look, and did a 3 month contract at the CITI Lab as a research engineer, where I learnt how to program micro-controllers and radio chips.
I am now back at BSAC at UC Berkeley, where I have the immense privilege of working with Prof. Kris Pister and his team on Wireless Sensor Networks.
As an IEEE member since March 2006, I have always tried to be as active as possible. I was part of the Organizing Committee of the IEEE Region 8 Student Branch and GOLD Congress (SBC) 2006 which was held in Paris from August 30th to September 3rd. I joined the Student Activities Committee of IEEE Region 8 on January 1st, 2007, where I served as Awards and Contest Coordinator until January 2009. Between January 2007 and 2009, I was the Region 8 Electronic Communications Coordinator.
Besides my PhD studies, I am a serious Jazz Guitar student. I love traveling and meeting people, and I speak four languages (Dutch/Flemish, French, English and Spanish), studying Portuguese.
Wireless Multi-hop Networking and Self-Organization
(Educational Institution; Higher Education industry)
February 2009 — Present (10 months)
I had the immense privilege of working with Kris Pister, Prof. at UC Berkeley, founder and CTO of Dust Networks and the person who coined the term "Smart Dust".
(Educational Institution; Research industry)
October 2008 — December 2008 (3 months)
I chose to work as a research engineer at my University Lab for an additional 3 months after graduating from my PhD studies to learn the intricate details of WSN programming.
(Non-Profit; Non-Profit Organization Management industry)
January 2007 — December 2008 (2 years )
The job of the Electronic Communication Coordinator for the Region 8 is managing the electronic resources for the IEEE members of that unique IEEE Region.
During my term as ECC, I lead the task Force which has completely redesigned the Region 8 website (http://ieee.org/r8). During its first 2 months online, it has received over 2 million connections. The tools and templates which I created for that website are now used by numerous IEEE entities.

October 2006 — December 2008 (2 years 3 months)
SAC is a team of 6 people which provides the necessary tools for the 17,000 IEEE Region 8 Student Members to enjoy their IEEE membership as much as possible.
My particular job was Awards and Contests Coordinator, which means that I co-organized contest such as the IEEE Region 8 Website contest. I am proud that during my term, the team of Southhampton won the world wide IEEE website contest.
(Privately Held; FTE; Telecommunications industry)
October 2005 — September 2008 (3 years )
My work has focused on Energy-Efficient Self-Organization for Wireless Sensor Networks. I have had the privilege to work with distinct researchers such as Mischa Dohler and Dominique Barthel.
(Educational Institution; Research industry)
September 2005 — September 2008 (3 years 1 month)
I had the chance to teach classes on topics as varied as Advanced Networking, Algorithms, Operating System to many motivated students.
(Educational Institution; Higher Education industry)
April 2008 — August 2008 (5 months)
I had the immense privilege of working with Kris Pister, Prof. at UC Berkeley, founder and CTO of Dust Networks and the person who coined the term "Smart Dust".
(Non-Profit; Telecommunications industry)
May 2007 — May 2007 (1 month)
I had the immense privilege of working with Christan Ibars and Aitor del Coso on the exciting topic of collaborative networking in Wireless Sensor Networks, in one of the craziest cities I know.
(Privately Held; Oil & Energy industry)
May 2005 — October 2005 (6 months)
During this internship, I interconnected the networks of several sites working on a same project using a VPN-based solution, and co-supervised the migration of the 250-wide computer network to a Windows XP environment.
