About Tom Reidy
He is a graduate of St. John Fisher College and holds an advanced studies certificate in Executive Leadership: Preparing for an Uncertain Future, from Cornell University. With over 30 years of accomplishments in leadership, he is the only expert of his type to appear 8 consecutive times in Who's Who in America.
Tom got his start in international diplomacy in 1976 by appearing on the cover of Soviet Life Magazine. As an American delegate, to an American-Soviet conference, he learned early in his career that the principles of leadership are universal. After his eye-opening visit to the Soviet Union, he returned to the United States with an even greater appreciation for American democracy—the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—the very embodiment of entrepreneurship.
He began his sales career in financial planning after nine years in the YMCA executive system; earning the prestigious designation of Certified Financial Planner. In 1985, he was honored by receiving the Outstanding Financial Planner of the Year Award, at IDS/American Express.
Tom became the division manager for Waddell & Reed, Rochester, New York, in 1995. During his tenure, he recruited trained and developed a sales force that was recognized as having the highest per-capita earnings growth in the country; all within 18 months.
In January 2002, Tom began his business leadership and development-coaching program. The program offers a unique system and philosophy. "I believe improving business leadership cannot be a onetime exercise," Tom explains. "Behavior is tough to change without consistent coaching, counseling, and ongoing support. Positive reinforcement is necessary for personal growth."
He coaches Old School vs New School business development skills.
Old School: The primary focus of the seller is to position the "needs" of the customer in alignment with the products that the seller offers. The relationship is seller driven.
New School: Understanding the desire of the prospect to avoid disaster and enjoy success; the seller is positioned to fulfill what a customer wants through strong listening skills. The relationship is customer driven.
