I've worked with a lot of smart people doing original and inventive things. I see my goals and clear competence as taking care of the base layers of work so that the really smart people don't have to waste their time and energy. I like to keep working on my own projects on the side, my experience has been that my interests and pursuits often mesh well in surprising ways with the interests and pursuits of others.

Researched and documented portability issues moving an application suite developed for Red Hat Linux to the Mac OSX platform. Assembly and installation of Intel PC-based servers running Red Hat ES3. Installed and configured many instances of Oracle 8. Assisted at test deployments of Neosynapse products at AOL campus, documenting the research, process, and results.

Assisted in research and development of new GIS application. Converted ASCData GIS files to coordinate data, processed the coordinate data to drive creation of POVRAY3 ray-tracing software to create very detailed photorealistic three-dimensional images of urban landscapes.

Night-shift point of escalation from the Network Operations Center. Some server room installation, maintenance, operations. Remote administration of a network of as many as 500 remote units running NetBSD which converted satellite download signal and converted it into "web objects" populating caches "at the edge of the internet". Coordinated with clients and client's network administrators to provide uptimes above 99.995%.

Included administrivia for a very large majordomo mailing list, assorted installations and tweaking, backup, wide selection of system administration tasks for researchers and other academic types.
