Thijs Terlouw’s Summary
As a backend engineer at Tencent my responsibilities are to design and implement new Internet applications for the Chinese market. I like to actively participate in the requirements gathering process and contribute to an overall strategy. Developing internet applications for the Chinese market means I have to deal with scalability and performance problems, both of which present very interesting challenges. I favor using open source technologies to achieve my goals and my designs stress the right balance between performance, scalability and reliability.
