I consider myself to be quite fortunate because I'm able to combine my passions in life with making a living. The work I do revolves around pets and social media - although not always at the same time.
I've worked in the pet industry since 2001, as a pet sitter, then as the founder of PetsitUSA.com, one of the top rated websites for pet owners to connect with pet care providers. However, it's evolved into more than just a directory. Over the years I have consulted with many pet sitters on such things as web design, general startup issues, blogging, and other social media techniques.
I'm a firm believer in social media and that it's here to stay, but I also believe it will evolve into something even more sophisticated as time goes on. Tools such as blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and others are becoming more mainstream and therefore, necessities in today's world. With that in mind, it's important for people to learn how to use these tools now, so they won't be left behind as things move forward. In my consulting work, my goal is to help individuals and business owners (both pet and non-pet related) gain an understanding of what social media is, and how to use it to boost their own online presence. With a good social media foundation, they'll be that much closer to success.
Additionally, I'm the Editorial Director of Wishbones for Pets, a pet sitter charity. (www.wishbonesforpets.com).
