Richard Brklacich’s Summary

Born and raised in California, Richard has over 10 years of experience in marketing, mostly in proposal coordination. His vast hands-on experience includes developing and managing proposals, writing introductions to the firm, ensuring compliance with RFPs, extensive graphics in both raster and vector (i.e., organization charts, altering JPG photos or GIF logos, illustrated front covers, and CD-ROM labels), gathering technical input from subcontractors and other offices, designing animated presentations, updating professional resumes and project descriptions, and many more.

Richard's 110-wpm typing speed is further complemented by his advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including programming sophisticated VisualBasic macros that combine several actions within a single keystroke, customizing shortcut key commands, and designing templates with auto-generating fields such as the table of contents or list of figures and tables. Richard's in-depth knowledge of such features allows him to meet deadlines with ease, winning praises from co-workers and clients alike. He trains even experienced personnel on taking advantage of such features in software, greatly boosting productivity and efficiency.

Last year, Richard traveled extensively around the world – Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Romania, Poland, Germany, Netherlands – to provide assistance in the distribution of new global templates that utilized time-saving features in an effort to boost international productivity. He also took an active role in identifying areas throughout the other offices where productivity could be improved without sacrificing quality.

    April 2007Present (2 years 8 months)

Richard's initial role consisted of desktop publishing on an on-call basis for the first 12 months while he was working for GeoSyntec to avoid a conflict of interest. After his departure from GeoSyntec, Richard's role expanded to include proposal writing and coordination, graphic design, programming macros that combine several commands, and he has made substantial contributions to the firm's standardization of corporate templates and customized hot-key commands.

Richard continues to work closely with SES on multi-million dollar proposals by writing, updating resumes and project descriptions, and providing assistance with the design of organization charts and graphics. He monitors the progress of proposals and matches up the table and figure numbers to the proposal text, and updates professional credentials if needed.

He has worked on several large 200-plus page proposals for various public and private entities, including Federal, State, and local governments. He was instrumental in several winning proposals with some exceeding $1 million.

  • Proposal Manager / Desktop Publisher

    Aon Global Risk Consulting

    (Insurance industry)

    April 2008January 2009 (10 months)

The biggest part of Richard's position involved proposal management. It included setting proposal framework based on RFP; providing full graphic support in both Raster and Vector; writing introduction letters highlighting company expertise and personnel qualifications; designing front covers with client logos and images; interacting with other offices for up-to-date credentials; updating personnel resumes and project descriptions; and verifying compliance with RFP including deadlines.

During his first month, Richard identified areas where productivity could be greatly improved time- and quality-wise. His accomplishments include creating numerous custom macros and hotkeys; teaching others how to utilize time-saving features in Word; adding auto-generating fields to templates; and improving corporate logo to WMF to increase efficiency and speed up printing.
