Writing the marketing story for your company or career. <<amanda@grammardocs.com>>

With a knack for the written word and an eagle eye for mistakes, I was born to be a writer. In fact, as a child, it was often suggested that's what I should do - or at least teach English. Alas, I didn't see the career in writing, so I went a completely different direction, getting a B.S. in child development.
While in college, I began an extremely part-time résumé design business, Career Oriented, while I worked full time as a nanny and then entered into higher education admissions and marketing. At a number of colleges and universites, I became the go-to copywriter and copyeditor. I created and maintained Web sites, sales e-mails, brochures, and student newsletters. I also reviewed résumés as a member of various hiring committees.
In 2006, I gathered up my talents and morphed Career Oriented into The Grammar Doctors. Through this company, I help business owners, writers, and job seekers create and edit targeted writing to get them business, readers, or careers. I also provide coaching on marketing and job-seeking strategies, and we've recently added outplacement services to assist transitioning employees in a new economy.
I practice what I preach by appearing at networking events in scrubs with a stethoscope and prescription pad at the ready. Even my toddler son thinks my other name (besides Mom) is The Grammar Doctor!
