I am expert in the corporate management of open-source activities.
I am expert in working with corporate philanthropic teams. I worked continuously with IBM's team from November 2005 until my departure from IBM in February 2009.
I recruited a team of four Linux experts who contributed to the Sahana project, on IBM's behalf, but doing the work on their own time and their own dime.
I also helped the team to integrate the appropriate open-source practices into their business mode, and gave a worldwide briefing to the entire team on how best to do so.

Philippe Charles and I are the co-authors of Jikes, a plug-compatible replacement for Sun's Javac source to bytecode compiler that is from 10-50 times faster than Javac.
I led the effort that resulted in IBM releasing Jikes as its first open-source project, and I led that work for a year. Jikes received a major award for that work. As one senior exec said, "Jikes was featured in virtually *every* presentation given by IBM on open-source and/or Linux for all of 1999.
Jikes was the first project from IBM to be included in a major Linux distribution (RedHat), and can now be found in almost all of them.
